BREAKING! Ye Announces Two Russia Shows in a Major Return to the Spotlight

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is set to perform two stadium shows in St. Petersburg, Russia, this October, organisers have announced.

The controversial rapper will take the stage at Gazprom Arena on October 10 and 11, in what could become the first performances by a major Western artist in Russia since the country’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

The announcement has already sparked plenty of interest. Some of the most expensive tickets, reportedly priced at more than $1,850, sold out within hours, while the cheapest tickets, around $105, were also quickly snapped up.

But Ye’s return is unlikely to be without controversy. The artist has faced widespread criticism over his history of antisemitic and pro-Nazi remarks, despite apologising earlier this year for some of his past comments. His recent European touring plans have also faced cancellations and political backlash.

Ye has previously been linked to a potential Russian performance. In 2024, he visited Moscow to attend the birthday celebration of Russian designer Gosha Rubchinskiy.

His upcoming St. Petersburg shows will put him back in the spotlight and once again place the rapper at the intersection of music, controversy and geopolitics.
